Finally A Day of Sunshine

 September 20, 2024 -

We work up to overcast skies but soon the sun came through as the weather forecast predicted.  The flag changed today to yellow - Dangerous Currents.   We had had enough of Comfort Inn breakfasts and walked across the street for breakfast at Millers.  Their special thing is blueberry hushpuppies.  The were more flour than cornmeal hushpuppies and did indeed have a blueberry or two and powdered sugar on them - tasty.   Jane had scrambled eggs and biscuits, and Ben had French toast and bacon.  Nice for a change.

Only one Blueberry Hushpuppy Left!

We spent the morning in the sunshine on our balcony.  So relaxing watching the waves.

We wanted soup and a sandwich for lunch - searched a bit and found Henry's.  Jane had the crab bisque and Ben had clam chowder.  We split a club sandwich.  This was a regular old time family restaurant.  Everything was good - nothing fancy but good.

For some reason we just enjoyed the sunny beach from the balcony again in the afternoon.  Had thought we would go walk on the sand but guess we were lazy.

Lifeguards and Sunshine - flag dangerous currents

Got our "stuff" all organized so we can get an early start tomorrow morning.  We plan to drive to Winston Salem if we can so we will be home early on Sunday.

We got cleaned up and headed to Awful Arthur's Oysters for dinner - huge crowd - 1 3/4 hour wait - no it can't be that good!  We went back to Henry's which was nearby and had steamed shrimp; Ben had fried oysters and Jane had clams.  It was all a bit over cooked - it was good but would have been great if not a bit over cooked.

Very green green beans! They were good.

Overall, we like Kill Devil Hills better than Nags Head.  Better choices of restaurants, just a simpler vibe.  We will have to come back as there are 3-4 restaurants we have not tried!
